{"id":415,"date":"2021-03-26T17:16:52","date_gmt":"2021-03-26T17:16:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/vnss.info\/?p=415"},"modified":"2021-03-26T17:19:05","modified_gmt":"2021-03-26T17:19:05","slug":"engaged-sonorities-politics-and-gender-in-the-work-of-vanessa-de-michelis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/vnss.info\/?p=415","title":{"rendered":"Engaged Sonorities: Politics and Gender in the Work of Vanessa De Michelis [2020]"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.academia.edu\/44905687\/Engaged_Sonorities_Politics_and_Gender_in_the_Work_of_Vanessa_De_Michelis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download Article (english)<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>This piece of writing by T\u00e2nia Mello Neiva is chapter 11 from the seminal book <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomsbury.com\/us\/making-it-heard-9781501344435\/\">Making it Heard: a History of Brazilian Sound Art<\/a> (Rui Chaves and Fernando Iazzetta, 2020 &#8211; Bloomsbury).<\/p>\n<p>In this chapter, T\u00e2nia discusses &#8216;some examples of Brazilian women artists active in experimental music and sound art&#8217; trying to identify how their work, by resisting hegemonic values, can socially transform these musical scenes.<\/p>\n<p>In the first part of the chapter, the authors presents &#8216;the context of sound art and experimental music in Brazil&#8217;, followed by presenting the work of three artists: L\u00edlian Campesato, Leandra Lambert, and myself.&nbsp; The article moves on to explore in detail my praxis, as,&nbsp; the author finds it &#8216;more representative of a political approach to sound art&#8217;.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>T\u00e2nia Mello Neiva is a PhD on musicology from UFPB &#8211; Federal University of Para\u00edba (2018). She studies Brazilian women in experimental music from a feminist perspective. She has been dedicating herself to the studies of gender in music since 2004.
